A foundation year is an integral part of a longer degree course, rather than a standalone qualification. It may be a good choice for you if:
If you are considering taking the Engineering Foundation Year, you should be aware that this does not include English language modules. If English is not your first language, we ask you to obtain a recognised qualification, such as IELTS with a score of 6.5 with at least 5.5 in each band. The University offers various courses in English for academic purposes, to take place before your formal studies begin. You can find out more here.
For fees and funding purposes, the foundation year is generally classed as part of a 4 or 5 year degree course. The annual tuition fee is identical. If you are a UK student, you may apply for a loan or grant for this foundation year in the same way as for other degree courses. You can find out more here.
